Little Things

  • Anyone up for another Dem debate? When's the next one? There are only three major candidates left, so it could actually be more in-depth and interesting now.

  • So much for the 'Skip Iowa' strategists. Oh look, there are only three tickets out of Iowa...

  • Bush's military record is a thirty-year-old story. Bush's claims about his military record (including "his" book A Charge to Keep) are very much a now story.

  • Commentators, aides and sympathizers of Bush and Kerry all say being in Skull and Bones is no big deal, that it's just a college kids' thing and that S&B has no hold on them today.

I'm willing to believe all that.

The trouble is, it's impossible to get either Bush or Kerry themselves to say anything like that; both evade and evade and evade. Why is it so hard to just give some flat-out dismissals? It wouldn't be a big deal if they didn't keep acting like there's a big secret they're not allowed to discuss. One's a Senator, one's a President. What are they afraid of?

"What are they afraid of?"

Saying anything definitive AT ALL.
