Second Dean Dozen

The second Dean Dozen has been announced at Democracy For America. They're going to announce a new group every other week. This batch looks like another interesting bunch of people. I'm becoming increasingly enthusiastic about the DFA model and its emphasis on local races at all levels. Civic engagement has been waning for a long time and rejuvenating participation on the part of citizens has the potential to be a great thing.

Concentrating on local politics is how the frothy-mouthed hatemongers have gotten to be as powerful as they are. They start at school boards and work upwards. The Dems had damned well better do the same.

Tom Potter (running for mayor of Portland, OR) is an interesting choice.
There's a piece about Potter in this week's Willamette Week (lefty Portland paper: http://www.wweek.com/story.php?story=5113
